My name is Blakeley Cohen and I am the Literacy Support Specialist and Reading Support teacher at Scofield Magnet Middle School in Stamford, CT; where I have also been a Language Arts teacher for grade 6. I am a graduate of Northeastern University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English. In addition, I have earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching (015) and my Administrative Certificate (092) from Sacred Heart University. My future educational goal is to enter a Doctorate program.
I was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and lived there for 21 years until we moved to Connecticut where I bought my first house in 2012. In addition to working in Stamford, I’ve also worked in Region 15 and Bethel for grades 6-8. I am grateful to have attended wonderful schools, which fostered my love of education and I hope to provide the same experience for my students.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling (Germany is next on my list!), boating, and spending time with my friends, family, and boyfriend. I'm a huge New York Giants and Red Sox fan; in fact, I named my cat "Osi" after Osi Umenyiora. I also have two dogs, a Great Dane named Oliver and a German Shepherd/Irish Wolfhound mix named Blarney (see below!). Fall is my favorite season, but I love the beach in the summer; it's what I miss most about Florida!
As I move through my career, I look forward to expanding my understanding of the world through different viewpoints and am very open to new ideas and opinions!
Educational Background:
SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY, Fairfield, Connecticut
Intermediate Administration and Supervision (092), July 2013-present
Masters of Arts in Teaching, July 2007
English certification for Secondary Education (015), June 2007-present
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY, Boston, Massachusetts
Bachelor of Arts in English, May 2004
